As a Writer
Writing unforgettable stories and books about our world and it's inhabitants
Andi Lehman, aka “The Snake Lady,” freelances in diverse markets as a writer of nonfiction stories, devotions, children’s books, and entertaining original programs featuring live animals, who are often the subjects of her work with publishers like Revell, Chicken Soup for the Soul, and Grace Publishing. Saving Schmiddy, Andi’s first picture book in a conservation series for elementary school kids (and ophidiophobic parents!) received NIEA honors in two categories, Children’s Inspirational/Motivational and Picture Books: All Ages.
As an Educator
Teaching the wonder and value of all animals and our responsibility to them
Through her education company, Andi’s Life with Animals, Andi promotes the wonder and value of all creatures—domestic, wild, or exotic—and our responsibility to them. She offers over thirty original programs featuring facts about a variety of species, their needs, and their amazing characteristics. Presentations include entertaining PowerPoints, songs, educational handouts, and close-up encounters with friendly critters. Andi speaks at libraries, schools, churches, service group meetings, retirement centers, private parties, book fairs, reptile shows, outdoor festivals, and conservation celebrations.
As a Rescuer
Helping animals, one at a time, and empowering others to do the same
Andi has volunteered for over forty years rescuing or rehoming domestic animals, wildlife, and exotics. She served as chairman of the Animal Control Commission for the Germantown Animal Shelter in Germantown, TN, and she is a past-president of MS Wildlife Rehabilitation. Andi wrote the grant proposal that established the ARK: Arkabutla Lake Rehabilitation and Nature Center. She collaborates with several organizations to promote the welfare of all creatures in need, and she personally rescues native snakes and some exotic species—if she has space available. A full list of rescue and rehab organizations and recommended veterinarians may be found below.
